I am Rachel,  and I passionately and patiently guide courageous families blazing their own trails both through and away from the captivity of compulsory industrial institutionalized schooling to discover new realms of liberated life and education.

We are all always educating ourselves and our families, whether we choose to utilize schools and curricula or not, and I believe it is high time we get very intentional about the learning opportunities in our lives, because if we just follow the mainstream highway and expect to be given everything we need by a system that does not know us, we will only end up where they want us, which may not necessarily be where we would like to go.

If you have embarked on this quest only to find yourselves drowning in doldrums of disillusionment, mired in murky media messaging, or frozen in foggy forests of philosophy (or maybe you only know what you DON'T want!) I can help you navigate a path to the delight of discovery, and confidently chart a course to a love of learning and life that culminates in a successful arrival at the destination you desire: a true and relevant experience and education unique to each member of your tribe and built from your family's values. 

I am so very glad you found my little campsite, on our quest to find our truth to recreate ourselves. Here, at the crossroads of your path and mine, I can guide and mentor you through the sometimes tricky terrain of deschooling from our culture's toxic compulsory school system and employment for consumerism system (and the rest of the powerarchy's propaganda) and help you set aside the burdens and expectations of the overshadowing school- and work- centric mindset to open up to the possibilities of what educational freedom could mean for your family.

The journey mostly takes place deep inside ourselves, where our earliest social conditioning controls us, and the changes we choose then blossom in our outer selves to change the trajectory of our lives and the lives of those we care about. Many times, working toward our values is what moves us toward alternative living and education, and other times, the mainstream paths dump is over a cliff and we have to decide how to never do that again.

I've gathered many tools from many treks, and I would LOVE to share them with you, for the benefit of not only your family, but to do my part to turn the tide of our whole society away from top-down hierarchical control structures toward connection and relationships-based communities where we are free to be our authentic selves, and respect each other accordingly. Hopefully once we learn to treat each other respectfully, we can offer the same to all other life, and the land that nurtures us.

I believe that how we treat children (and others we have been trained to see as less-than), participate in relationships (including those we didn’t exactly choose), and what we believe about living and learning (including education) creates and perpetuates the culture we live in, and therefore we can rehabilitate our lives and societies and build a better future by learning to understand our deepest motivations, shunning power-over dynamics in favor of strength-with relationships, and choosing to see ourselves as a small but highly influential part of the over-arching ecology of nature.
